Cause for Rejection |
Specimens that are improperly labeled or grossly contaminated will be rejected. Hemolysis may cause spurious results. |
Specimen Handling/Stability |
Infant samples should be protected from light or drawn in brown tube. Complete clot formation should take place before centrifugation. Serum or plasma should be physically separated from cells as soon as possible with a maximum limit of two hours from the time of collection. Specimens should be free of particulate matter. |
Specimen Storage Stability |
Specimens are stable for 3 days at 4°C or for up to 3 months at -20°C. |
