Collection Requirements Blood should be drawn in a plain red (serum) or gold (SST) tube.
Minimum Volume 0.5 mL
Cause for Rejection Specimens that are improperly labeled, collected in tubes other than those listed, or deemed QNS will be rejected.
Specimen Handling/Stability Complete clot formation should take place before centrifugation. Serum should be physically separated from cells as soon as possible with a maximum limit of 2 hours from time of collection. Specimen should be free of particulate matter.
Specimen Storage Stability Specimens are stable for up to 8 hours at room temperature, up to 48 hours at 2-8°C and for extended periods of time at -20°C.
