Urine Specimen For Chlamydia and Neisseria Gonorrhea by DNA Assay Collection Procedure – Microbiology

Patient Preparation The patient should not have urinated for at least 1 hour prior to specimen collection. No cleansing material should be used.
Specimen Type Urine
Collection Requirements Collect the specimen in a sterile, preservative-free specimen collection cup. The patient should collect the first 10-60 mL of voided (the first part of the stream - not midstream) into the collection cup. Cap and label cup with patient identifcation and date/time collected.
Minimum Volume more than 5 mL
Cause for Rejection Specimens that are improperly labeled, of insufficient volume or deemed QNS will be rejected.
Specimen Handling/Stability Speicmens are stable for up to 24 hours at room temperature.
